Apply NowAbout Forward Future
Forward Future is one of the fastest-growing AI media companies. Across our newsletter, video, social, and educational content, we reach more than 10 million people every month.
In a world flooded with AI hype, our job is to figure out what's real, what's fluff, and what actually matters — then make it useful.
We cover the biggest developments in AI, explain what they mean, and help our audience put new tools and ideas to work. Our goal is simple: make the future legible.
The Role
We're looking for a Head of Content to help define what Forward Future becomes editorially.
You'll own our content strategy across editorial, educational, and audience-driven formats — from the stories we cover every morning to the deeper guides, tutorials, interviews, and original series we build around the biggest shifts in AI.
This is part editor, part strategist, part operator.
You'll oversee The Future Today, our daily newsletter, while helping expand Forward Future beyond the daily news cycle. You'll develop original editorial franchises, build practical educational content, work with guest contributors and freelancers, and identify the formats and ideas that create the most engagement with our audience.
You'll work directly with the founders and collaborate across newsletter, web, video, social, and education.
The goal isn't simply to publish more. It's to build a distinct editorial voice and a content engine people actively seek out because it consistently makes them smarter about AI.
You don't need to be the world's foremost AI expert. You do need exceptional editorial judgment, deep curiosity about the space, and an instinct for turning complicated ideas into clear, compelling content.
High impact. High autonomy. A lot of room to build.
What You'll Do
- Own the editorial strategy — Decide what Forward Future should cover, what we should ignore, and where we can develop a distinctive point of view.
- Lead The Future Today — Oversee the daily editorial process end to end, including story selection, writing, editing, packaging, formatting, image selection, links, and final QA.
- Develop original content — Create analysis, reporting, essays, interviews, explainers, recurring franchises, and other formats that go beyond aggregating the news.
- Build educational content — Develop practical guides, tutorials, courses, playbooks, and other resources that help people become dramatically better at using AI in their work.
- Turn expertise into great content — Work with founders, practitioners, researchers, and other experts to transform their ideas and experiences into compelling editorial and educational pieces.
- Build a contributor network — Find, recruit, brief, edit, and manage guest contributors and freelance writers who can expand our expertise and coverage.
- Manage the editorial calendar — Balance breaking news, recurring franchises, evergreen education, original reporting, and larger editorial projects.
- Grow engagement — Pay close attention to opens, clicks, shares, replies, reading behavior, social engagement, and qualitative audience feedback — and use those signals to make the content better.
- Create content people share — Develop headlines, hooks, charts, polls, formats, and story angles designed to spark conversation without resorting to cheap clickbait.
- Develop new formats — Experiment with interactive features, visual storytelling, data-driven content, audience participation, and new ways of packaging information.
- Build editorial systems — Create workflows, standards, contributor guidelines, templates, and processes that allow us to increase quality and output without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Develop your own beats — Become a recognizable voice on the technologies, companies, and shifts you believe matter most.
- Help build the team — Over time, identify where we need additional writers, editors, researchers, or specialists and help recruit and manage them.
Who You Are
- You have meaningful experience in editorial, journalism, content, or media. Experience building a publication or content program is especially valuable.
- You have exceptional editorial judgment. You can look at 100 stories and know which three actually matter.
- You're an excellent writer and an even better editor.
- You understand the difference between content that is technically good and content that people actually want to read.
- You're deeply curious about AI and follow the industry closely.
- You can explain complicated technical ideas without making them boring or dumbing them down.
- You understand how content behaves across different platforms. You know that what works in a newsletter isn't necessarily what works on YouTube, X, LinkedIn, or the web.
- You care about audience engagement and use data as a feedback loop rather than publishing into a void.
- You're comfortable managing freelancers, contributors, and subject-matter experts — including people who may know far more about a topic than you do.
- You know how to turn someone else's expertise into a great piece of content.
- You have strong opinions, but you're willing to change them when the evidence does.
- You're detail-obsessed. You catch the broken link, weak headline, unsupported claim, typo, and misplaced pixel.
- You can ship on a daily cadence while also thinking months ahead.
- You make judgment calls without waiting for permission.
- You're chronically online enough to understand internet culture, but not so online that you mistake the discourse for the real world.
- Most importantly, you want to build, not simply inherit an editorial operation.
What Success Looks Like
After your first year, Forward Future should have:
- A sharper and more recognizable editorial identity
- A consistently excellent daily newsletter
- Several original editorial and educational franchises
- A strong network of contributors and freelance talent
- More content that earns shares, replies, citations, and word of mouth
- A growing library of practical AI education
- Clear editorial systems that allow the company to publish more without sacrificing quality
- An audience that increasingly sees Forward Future not just as somewhere to follow AI news, but as somewhere to understand it and get better at using it
