NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang says “AGI has arrived,” crediting OpenAI’s new Astra model and the NVIDIA chips used to train it. AI Will Help Cure Cancer
Arm CEO Rene Haas says AI could help cure cancer within our lifetime, arguing that increasingly powerful computers will eventually be able to model cells, humans and the way cancer interacts with DNA at a level that remains too complex today. Anthropic Secures $517 Billion in Compute Contracts Before IPO
Anthropic has reportedly secured computing-capacity contracts worth an estimated $517 billion over the past 11 months, according to an analysis by The Information. The deals reportedly add at least 14.8 gigawatts of capacity, including an estimated 11 GW commitment involving Amazon and Google valued at more than $300 billion over a decade.
The reported commitments far exceed the $180 billion in server leasing costs through 2029 that Anthropic presented to investors last December, underscoring the scale of its infrastructure expansion ahead of an anticipated initial public offering. AMD introduced the Threadripper Halo Station at IFA 2026, a liquid-cooled workstation designed to run AI models with more than one trillion parameters locally.
